Who it is for
Counselors in the last two weeks before the NCE, on a first attempt or a retake.
Why the weighting matters
You studied counseling in eight CACREP areas. NBCC does not weight the National Counselor Examination by CACREP area, and if you study by those eight you will give most of your time to material worth a fraction of what you think it is worth.
NBCC weights the NCE by six work behavior domains and publishes the percentage for every one. Two of them carry 59 percent of the exam.
Counseling Skills and Interventions is 30 percent, 48 of the 160 scored questions. Areas of Clinical Focus is 29 percent, 47 questions. Ethics is 12, intake and assessment 12, treatment planning 9, core counseling attributes 8. Ninety five of your 160 scored questions come from two domains.
This plan gives six of its eleven content days to those two, and one day each to the other four. That is the entire allocation logic and the arithmetic is printed on page one so you can check it.
The format fact most candidates work out too late: you have 67.5 seconds per question. The plan includes the four clock checkpoints to carry in.
